135 years and now growing with your support!

“They’ve seen Presidents inaugurated, honored the fallen, and have served as staples in celebrations within our community.” -WKYC’s Jason Nguyen

The Cleveland Division of Police Mounted Unit is one of the oldest in the country.  It can be traced back 135 years to the Cleveland Cavalry and has been an integral part of fighting crime, showcasing the work of the Cleveland Police, and reaching out to the community for as long as any of us can imagine.  The horses are not only beautiful but they stand out in a crowd whether you’re looking down from a window or across the Square from the street which makes getting help and knowing we’re out there to protect you a lot easier.  They also aid in controlling crowds and  deterring crime.

We’re ready to add more horses and patrol officers in the unit to make the best possible use of this tremendous asset but we need your help. The Cleveland Division of Police partners with the Cleveland Mounted Police Charitable Trust in order to provide for the horses. To become a sponsor of the Mounted Unit or if you have a horse you would like to donate, please visit the Cleveland Mounted Police website at http://www.clevelandmountedpolice.com.

Many thanks to WKYC for sharing our story! http://www.wkyc.com/news/article/237248/45/Cleveland-police-Mounted-Unit-to-add-officers-horses
