Cleveland Police Welcome New Lieutenant to the Special Victims Section

The Cleveland Division of Police is proud to announce the appointment of Lieutenant James McPike as the Officer In Charge of the Special Victim’s Section of the division which consists of the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit and the Domestic Violence Unit.  We are confident that he will run the section efficiently.  McPike  holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology and has completed numerous courses relating to investigations.

James McPike was appointed to the Cleveland Division of Police on June 5, 1995.  As a patrolman he worked both in the Basic Patrol section and in Operation Fresh Start.  In 2002, McPike was assigned as a Detective in the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit.  In 2008, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and after supervising officers in the Fourth District was assigned as a supervisor in the Domestic Violence Unit. 

James McPike was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on March 2, 2012.  McPike spent many years as both a Detective and a Supervisor in the Special Victim’s Section making him uniquely qualified to oversee this section of the division.  He is a proven investigator with a compassionate nature allowing him to interview victims of crimes of a sensitive nature effectively.
