Three Arrested in Shooting of Off Duty Cleveland Police Officer

On April 26, 2012 at approximately 11:30pm, an off-duty Cleveland Police Officer was shot in the torso/side during an attempted robbery.

The preliminary investigation reveals that the officer, while in the area of West 52nd Street and Detroit Avenue, was approached by three suspects.  One of the suspects produced a handgun.  The officer and the suspect exchanged gunfire, at which time the officer received a gunshot wound to his torso/side.  The officer was conveyed to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment of his injuries where he was treated and released.  

One suspect, Patrick Minifee (no photo available), was brought to MetroHealth Medical Center a short time later via the suspect vehicle with a gunshot wound to the abdomen; the driver and another passenger of that vehicle fled on foot.  The suspect at MetroHealth Medical Center is currently in police custody and is confined at the hospital and being treated for his injuries.  A second suspect, Donovan Jones, was apprehended by Second District Officers in a bus stop on West 25th street. 

The suspect vehicle was towed and will be processed for evidence. 

After further investigation, a third suspect, Devin Collins, was apprehended at 1404 East 91st Street.  This suspect was found to have sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was conveyed via EMS to St. Vincent Charity Hospital for treatment prior to being conveyed to the Central Prison Unit.
