Attention Flats Commuters:  The new East 9th Street Extension will open to traffic today, May 4, at 4:30 p.m. Commercial Road will remain closed between Central Viaduct Way (near Carnegie) and Canal Road into 2013.  Click here for more information about this closure as well as the newEast 9th Street Extension. 


On Saturday, May 5, crews will close I-90 west between I-77 and I-490, from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Opt for the Alternate! and use I-77 south to I-490 west to I-90 west.  This closure is necessary as crews switch traffic on I-90 over Starkweather.  Traffic will continued to be maintained with one lane to I-90 west and two lanes to I-71 south upon completion of the traffic switch.  Additional impacts to traffic are below:

Gateway Impacts:

§   Monday thru Friday, May 7 – May 11,E 9th StreetandE 14th Streetmay have lane restrictions under I-90 during off-peak hours.

§   Monday thru Friday, May 7 – May 11, the ramp fromE 9th Streetto I-77 south may be intermittently closed during off-peak hours.


Tremont Impacts:

§   Beginning Tuesday, May 8, Starkweather Avenue will be closed under I-90 for up to 14 days, while crews remove the final section of bridge deck on the I-90 west ramp over Starkweather.  UseFairfield, Kenilworth orClark.

§   Monday thru Saturday, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., theAbbeyAvenueBridgewill continue to operate with alternating one-way traffic.  Motorists are reminded to stop at the designated signal location and remain stopped until they have the green light.
