Avery Meets the Cleveland Police

Recently, some of our officers had the pleasure of meeting a very extraordinary little boy named Avery Hamilton-Brown. Avery is 5 years old and was visiting Cleveland from Chicago when he bumped into some of the guys …from our Canine and Mounted Units and made their day! This little guy with the irresistible smile and bright eyes shows tremendous determination and courage every day as he copes with cerebellar hypoplasia/cerebellar ataxia. Due to his special needs, Avery cannot sit, stand or walk independently, but as anyone can see, that doesn’t stop him!

Avery and his mom, Julie, were downtown when they came upon Officer Antonio Colon and his canine partner Jet. It just so happened that Officer Scott Sieger (seen holding Avery on the horse), Officer Mike Herrin and Sergeant Mark Medwid were in the area patrolling on horseback. Avery got the chance to visit with the animals (which, clearly, he loved) and the officers had the chance to meet a very inspirational young man.

Hi, Avery! We hope you see this!

P.S. Watch your mailbox; the guys sent you something
