The West Park Cleveland Police and Fire Fighters Memorial Walkway was built to honor those brave officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Built in memory of 20 Police Officers and Fire Fighters who lived in or died in the line of duty in West Park, the memorial features each hero’s name etched in marble and bronze. Located on Rocky River Drive, the memorial walkway begins at Edgecliff Avenue and runs north for one third of a mile along the Metroparks Canyon. It not only recognizes the tremendous sacrifice the fallen officers made but offers their families and the community a gathering place to honor their memory.
Saturday, August 25th will mark the 10th anniversary of the dedication of the Memorial Walkway. To commemorate this, a rededication will take place at 11:00 AM at the Memorial on Rocky River Drive. Hundreds of family members of fallen officers and fire fighters are expected to attend. The rededication ceremony will color guards, a motorcycle escort, and fire and police equipment. This event offers a tremendous photo opportunity for news organizations. The event is free and open to the public.
