Police Seek Public’s Help in Locating Male Wanted for Murder of 14 Year Old Girl

Today, Michael McGrath, Chief of the Cleveland Division of Police, announced that the Division is asking for the public’s help in locating Jeffrey L. McWhorter Jr. who is wanted in the shooting death of Lataevia Williams, age 14.

Lataevia Williams was shot shortly before midnight on July 28, 2012.  The shooting occurred following a fight outside of 1332 East 125th Street when multiple shooters fired into a crowd.  Lataevia suffered a gunshot wound to the neck and died shortly thereafter.  Four other individuals have been arrested in this case, however Jeffrey L. McWhorter Jr. remains at large.

Jeffrey L. McWhorter Jr. is a black male, 20 years old, standing 5’8 and weighing 145 pounds.  Detectives in the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit have obtained a warrant for McWhorer for Aggravated Murder.  McWhorter should be considered armed and dangerous.  If seen, McWhorter should not be approached and police should be contacted.
