Police seek public’s help in locating male wanted for Felonious Assault
CLEVELAND – TodayMichael McGrath, Chief of the Cleveland Division of Police, announced that the Division is asking for the public’s help in locating Johnny Douglas Whitfield who is wanted for the Felonious Assault of Arela Leidy.
Johnny Douglas Whitfield is accused of striking Arela Leidy in the head with a hammer multiple times while the couple’s two children slept in a nearby room. Whitfield then left the scene in victim’s vehicle, which was later recovered by Cleveland Police. The victim was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center with serious head trauma, where she remains in critical condition. Whitfield remains at large.
Johnny Douglas Whitfield is a black male, 35 years old, standing 5’11 and weighing 165 pounds. Detectives in the Cleveland Division of Police Second District Detective Bureau have obtained a warrant for Whitfield for Felonious Assault. Whitfield should be considered armed and dangerous. If seen, Whitfield should not be approached and police should be contacted. Any persons found to be harboring Johnny Douglas Whitfield can be charged with Obstructing Justice, a felony of the third degree.
