Hit-Skip Driver Identified by the Cleveland Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit in the Fatal Hit-Skip Accident from 17407 Lorain Avenue
CLEVELAND – Today Michael McGrath, Chief of the Cleveland Division of Police, announced that the driver of the SUV in the Fatal Hit-Skip Accident from 17407 Lorain Avenue has been identified. The driver has been identified as a 16 year old white female from Fairview Park, Ohio.
On Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at 7:53 a.m., Maxine Lobins was walking with a walker in the street (on the side of the roadway) at 17407 Lorain Avenue attempted to cross in the crosswalk and was struck by a black SUV that was operating eastbound on Lorain Avenue. After hitting the victim the operator of the black SUV did not stop and continued eastbound on Lorain. Lobins was conveyed to Fairview Hospital, where she was pronounce dead on arrival.
As a result of investigative leads, interviews and with the assistance of the Fairview Park Police Department, Accident Investigation Unit Detectives were able to identify the suspect vehicle a black 2013 GMC Arcadia SUV and later identify the suspect. This investigation will be presented to the Juvenile Prosecutor’s Officer for review and charges. There is no arrest at this time.
