The Cleveland Division of Police is seeking the public’s help in identifying the three suspects seen in the attached photos. The males are wanted in c/w the homicide of 48-year old Mohammed T. Ismail and the felonious assault shooting of 28-year old Esmeil M. Ayad. The incident occurred this morning at Biggies Gas Station located at 2165 E. 55th Street.

Murder Suspects Sought:
Arrest warrants have been issued as a result of an investigation by the Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit involving the homicide of James D. Swindler III. The preliminary investigation revealed that Carvin Catron B/M/22, 6’ 180 lbs., and Jonathon Catron B/M/24, 5’8” 155 lbs., were involved in an exchange of gunfire on Sunday, July 28, 2013 and during the exchange James D. Swindler III (who was not involved in the incident) was shot in the in the abdomen. Carvin and Jonathan Catron are brothers and are considered armed dangerous.

The Cleveland Division of Police Use of Deadly Force Investigation Team is investigating a police officer involved shooting that occurred at today at E. 131st & Cain Avenue outside of Winston’s Place Bar.
The preliminary investigation reveals that at approximately 2:00 a.m. Police Dispatch received a call for shots fired at 4209 East 131st Street Winston’s Place Bar. Upon arrival on scene Fourth District observed a male exiting the bar with a handgun and after observing the male the officers ordered the male to stop and drop the weapon. The male did not comply and attempted to flee on foot. At this time the officers exited their zone car and pursued the male. As the officers pursued the male he turned, pointed the handgun at the officers and shot at them. The officers returned fire hitting the suspect multiple times. The male was taken into custody, EMS was notified and responded to the scene and conveyed the male to MetroHealth Medical Center, where he is being treated for his injuries.
Further investigation revealed that the arrested male was involved in an altercation inside the bar and remove from the bar. After being remove from the bar the arrested male obtained a handgun from a vehicle. Once in possession of the handgun the arrested male returned to the bar and confronted the security guard at the front door. During the confrontation the arrested male shot once in the air and shot the security guard in the leg.
No police officers are reporting injuries at this time.
Our pizza program continued this week with visits to the Halloran Park, Michael Zone, Lonnie Burten, Earl B. Turner, Glenville, Sterling, Thurgood Marshall and Zelma George Recreation Centers. This program allows police officers to visit the children who participate in the City of Cleveland’s lunch program. Officers surprise the kids with pizza and juice and spend the lunch hour interacting with them while they eat. The kids love seeing the officers and asking questions about being a police officer. The officers enjoy spending some one on one time with the children and seeing all of the bright smiles!
Driver’s License Checkpoint:
Today Michael McGrath, Chief of the Cleveland Division of Police and Keith Sulzer, Commander of the Second District, announced that officers will operate a driver’s license checkpoint today to deter and intercept unlicensed and restricted licensed drivers. Second District officers will conduct the driver’s license checkpoint between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. at West 80th Street and Lorain Avenue.
Michael McGrath, Chief of the Cleveland Division of Police, and Patrick Stephens, Commander of the Third District, announced that officers will operate a sobriety checkpoint today, Thursday, July 25, 2013. The checkpoint will operate from 7:30 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. The location of the checkpoint will be at East 55th Street and Thackeray Avenue in the Third District.
