Pizza with the Police Day: Sponsored by the Cleveland Police Foundation

Today, we kicked off our summer program “Pizza with the Police”. During this community outreach program, officers from the Cleveland Division of Police will visit the recreation centers throughout the City of Cleveland. Cleveland’s Recreation Centers participate in the Lunch Program, serving food to hundreds of Cleveland’s children. The “Pizza with the Police” program will take place throughout July with visits once per week all over the city. The officers arrive as lunch is being served and surprise the kids with pizzas and juice boxes.

Today, officers from each district’s Community Service Unit and Community Policing visited Gunning, Clark, Central, Hamilton and Collinwood Recreation Centers. The kid’s faces lit up when they saw the pizzas and everyone had a great time hanging out for lunch. After lunch at Clark Recreation Center, Commander Sulzer joined the kids and the officers to shoot hoops. Officer Fore played a lengthy ping pong tournament with the kids and still stayed to play with a few kids after the tournament ended. We aren’t sure who had more fun, the cops or the kids!
