On September 17, 2013 at approximately noon, First District officers responded to a home in the 14400 block of Alger Road for a report of a place entered. Upon arrival, officers found the 91 year old female victim kneeling on the floor, bleeding from the mouth and side of her neck. She told officers that a male had entered her home through the back door. She confronted him in the hallway and he punched her in her face, knocking her to the floor. The male then went upstairs at which time the woman was able to get to a phone and call police. The suspect then spoke to victim, even called her by her correct name. He then took her purse and fled from the home. Officers arrived quickly and searched for the suspect. They interviewed neighbors, postal carriers, construction workers and UPS workers.
First District Detectives worked quickly to identify and arrest 40 year old Dean Murphy early this morning. He was arrested for Aggravated Burglary and Theft and remains in the Central Prison Unit awaiting charges.
