Cleveland Police Dispatchers provide Merry Memories and Christmas Joy to Families in Need

Chief Dispatcher Renee Foley and Dispatcher Jennifer O’Malley wanted the dispatch center adopt some families in need during the holiday season.  They requested that their Commander approve a $30.00 dollar per dispatcher dress down fund to meet the monetary needs to accomplish their goal.  Just three short weeks ago, they decided to host a small fund raiser to try and collect more funding.  The Cleveland Police Patrolman’s Association allowed the dispatchers to use the union hall to accommodate guests.  $20.00 tickets were sold to include dinner for all that attended and ticket sales exploded.  Requests were sent out to all districts to supply information on needy families throughout the city.

The goal was set to provide each family with a Christmas that would include a Christmas dinner and gifts.  Over 15 families will be provided for with help from PAL and the CPPA.  Over 50 businesses in the Cleveland area made donations including gift certificates and goods to raffle off at the fund raiser, which was held on Friday, November 29, 2013 to collect money to accommodate more families.   Funds leftover will be contributed to the annual Cops, Kida and Christmas function on December 21, 2013.
