Sex Crimes Detectives Seek the Public’s Help in Identifying Rape Suspect – NEW VIDEO

It is important to note that this video does NOT depict a sexual assault. It depicts actions prior to a sexual assault.

The Cleveland Division of Police Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit is currently investigating a rape which occurred on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at approximately 5:25 on West 104th Street near Lake Avenue. The victim, a 46 year old female, was jogging on West 104th street when a male ran up and attacked her from behind, knocking her to the ground in the street. The suspect punched the victim several times in her face and body and pistol whipped her before dragging her behind a building and raping her. The suspect then fled the area on foot.
You may notice in the video that the victim seems to disappear from view as she passes a tree; there is a lapse in visual due to the obstruction of the tree and the camera system being activated by motion. Also, the time stamp on the video is incorrect.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5’6 – 5’7 in height. The video being released in connection with this incident shows the actions prior to initial attack. Anyone with information regarding the identification of the suspect is asked to contact the Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Unit at 216-623-5154. Anonymous information can be given to Crime Stoppers by calling 216.252.7463 or via text message: text TIP657 plus your message to Crimes (274637).
