Homicide Investigation Update

The Cleveland Division of Police issued an arrest warrant today for 36 year old Dana Johnson in connection with the homicide of William D. Williams. A Be On The Look Out (BOLO) was issued for a vehicle that Johnson was believed to be driving. The Pennsylvania State Police observed the vehicle operating just outside of Pittsburgh. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver of the vehicle produced a gun and shot herself. The individual operating the vehicle has been identified as Dana Johnson.  Johnson was flown to a Pittsburgh area hospital where she is being treated. Johnson is listed in critical condition.

The Cleveland Division of Police is sad to announce that the brother of Police Chief Calvin Williams was the victim of a homicide this morning at 10619 Grantwood.

The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit is currently investigating the death of 34 year old William D. Williams.

We ask that the media please respect the privacy of the Williams family at this time.

Original Release:

The Cleveland Division of Police Homicide Unit is currently investigating the death of a 34 year old male victim of a shooting in the 10600 block of Grantwood. Police and EMS initially received a call for a male shot at approximately 2:50 am . Upon arrival Police and EMS discovered the male victim expired.

The homicide unit was immediately notified and responded. Homicide detectives are on scene investigating. At this time there are no additional details available and no reported arrests.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will determine final cause of death and identify decedent.

Police Seek the Public’s Help in Locating Kidnapping Victim, Suspect, Vehicle

The Cleveland Division of Police Fifth District Detective Bureau is currently investigating a kidnapping incident which occurred on Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at approximately 1:15am.  Fifth district zone car officers were on routine patrol in the area of Lakeview Avenue and Earl Road when they heard a female screaming for help from a silver Chevy Malibu with Michigan plates.  Officers immediately pursued the vehicle, the female made attempts to escape from the vehicle as the suspect/driver fled from police.  The vehicle was last seen in the area of Empire and Herrick at which point officers lost visual of the vehicle.   

The suspect is described as a black male with a beard, 30s. 

The victim is described as a black female with black hair, 30s, thin build. 

Officers continued to patrol and search for the vehicle, zone car officers remain detailed to this incident.  A city wide broadcast with the description of the vehicle, suspect and victim was provided to all officers; the broadcast will be repeated throughout today’s shifts.  The Ohio State Highway Patrol, East Cleveland Police Department and Bratenahl Police Department were notified of this incident and reported no similar incidents. The Division of Police has also made contact with the Michigan State Police regarding this incident.   In addition, radio assignments for domestic situations, etc., were monitored for similarities. Detectives continue to investigate.

MISSING ADULT ENDANGERED

The Cleveland Division of Police haSs issued a missing person / endangered alert for 84 year old John Karadimas.
Mr. Karadimas was last seen today at approximately 3:15 pm by family members. Mr. Karadimas was last seen driving a 1998 Honda CRV (FMU-8316) as he dropped relatives off at Fairview Hospital.

The missing person / endangered alert is due to the extreme weather conditions, his age and occasional memory loss by Mr. Karadimas.

Anyone with information about Mr. Karadimas is asked to contact the First District at 623-5100.

Victim is described as a W/M/84. 5’6″. 165 pounds, balding with grey hair and a mustache.

Snow Emergency Parking Ban Declared

The Cleveland Division of Police reports hazardous driving conditions on city streets due to weather conditions.

Road conditions and visibility are poor.

Citizens are advised to limit travel if possible based on today’s weather.

An emergency snow parking ban will take effect at 3 pm and remain until further notice.

Citizens are reminded to keep main and side streets clear for city snow crews.
