The Cleveland Division of Police in partnership with the City of Cleveland and the Cleveland Cavaliers wish to ensure a safe event during tomorrow’s Cleveland Cavalier’s Championship Parade. Those attending the parade are encouraged to take responsibility for personal needs.
The event is expected to draw large crowds and parking will become a challenge early on. Parade goers are strongly encouraged to utilize public transportation through GCRTA’s bus and rapid lines. Both getting into the city and out of the city after the festivities will be a challenge; officers and traffic controllers will staff intersections to enhance the flow of traffic. Vehicles illegally parked will be towed.
· Family meeting point/Lost children
Attendees of the parade are encouraged to discuss with family and friends a designated meeting point should members become separated. Children should be monitored closely and told that should they become separated from family to seek out a person in a uniform. Cleveland Police officers and other members of partnering law enforcement agencies will be highly visible as will members of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance (blue and yellow uniforms) and all have radio contact back to the command center.
Parade goers are encouraged to bring an ample amount of water for themselves and for children. Water will be available from vendors on site, but it is important to consider bringing your own supply.
Please utilize sunscreen and bring extra to reapply during the event; warm weather is expected.
· Parade Route
Any one not credentialed to be in the parade itself shall NOT enter the parade route. The parade route is for permitted participants only. Anyone entering the parade route is subject to arrest.
