A Message from Chief Calvin D. Williams: Remembering PO Fahey

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we begin the process of saying goodbye to Patrol Officer David Fahey. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and loved ones and our hearts feel your sorrow.

As you know, Officer Fahey was killed in the line of duty on January 24, 2017. His life was taken in a senseless and careless act. This loss has greatly affected not only our law enforcement community and the citizens of the city of Cleveland, but people far and wide. The loss of a hero is especially difficult to bear.

I want to take a moment to thank the many law enforcement agencies, officers and agents who came together so quickly apprehend the offender.  You all worked tirelessly, swiftly and professionally and I appreciate that. We all appreciate that.

In addition, I want to thank the countless citizens who reacted immediately to help bring Officer Fahey’s killer to justice. The community’s involvement is paramount in assisting law enforcement in investigations and in the moments and hours after this tragedy, you showed us how much you care.

To those who have reached out to the Division of Police, our officers and to those who’ve attended the vigil and prayer services, we all thank you. Your support has been extraordinarily important.

The coming days, weeks and months will be terribly difficult for David’s family, friends, loved ones and his brothers and sisters in blue. We ask for the continued support of the community along with as many prayers as you can send our way.

Again, I thank you,

Chief Calvin D. Williams
