Cleveland Division of Police Announces Parking Ban,
Safety Tips for New Year’s Eve 2018
No street parking in Warehouse District tonight from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m.
CLEVELAND – The Cleveland Division of Police announces a parking ban will be implemented in the Warehouse District tonight due to New Year’s Eve celebrations. The Division of Police is also providing information on safe travel and overall safety guidelines for the holiday.
Parking Ban: The Warehouse District parking ban, normally implemented on weekends, will be in effect through New Year’s Eve. There will be NO PARKING on signed streets from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Violators will be subject to having their vehicles ticketed and towed. The parking ban is necessary during times of heavy traffic flow to ensure the efficient passage of emergency vehicles.
Celebrate Responsibly: The Division of Police reminds those celebrating this evening to do so responsibly. Persons celebrating with alcohol should do so responsibly by planning for a designated driver, taking public transportation or taxi services or utilizing ride share services. This year, the Cleveland Division of Police partnered with the Cleveland Police Foundation and the ride share service Lyft to provide discounted rides to promote #RideSafeNYE2018. Officers are handing out coupons for discounted rides in the entertainment districts. Commuters may also access discounted rides by using the code “RideSafeNYE2018” within the Lyft app. The code is valid through January 1, 2018.
What Goes Up Must Come Down: Those celebrating the clock striking midnight are reminded that it is never legal or appropriate to do by discharging firearms into the air. Rounds fired into the air are bound to return to land and can cause property damage, injury or even death. The public is also reminded that it is not legal to ignite fireworks within the city of Cleveland.
See Something, Say Something: Law enforcement officers’, objective is to ensure the safety of the public. Policing is a partnership, and officers rely on the eyes and ears of the public to provide the best services possible. Report any illegal or suspicious activity to law enforcement immediately.
