Crossing Guards Needed
The Cleveland Division of Police is accepting applications for school crossing guards by contacting Cleveland Police directly.
Duties include helping children safely cross streets to get to their public, parochial and charter schools for about one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. Compensation is $20.50 per day and employees are eligible for health care through the City of Cleveland.

Some employment requirements include: • Must be 18 years of age or older • Must be able to work the required hours on school days • Must be able to lift at least 35 pounds (the weight of a small child) • Must pass a background check • Must pass a drug screening
Once an applicant is hired, there is a required orientation and training session that must be completed. Crossing Guards are also required to attend an annual paid inservice.
On August 17, 2021, a female reported to the Cleveland Police Second District lobby stating that her child was taken. The mother reported that she was involved in an argument with and was assaulted by a known female who then drove off with her (victim’s) vehicle and her 6 week old son in the vehicle. Investigators worked throughout the night and the child was found in Youngstown, Ohio. There are no arrests in this case as of yet. Detectives continue to investigate due to conflicting information and will consult with the prosecutor’s office regarding charges in the near future. The baby, pictured here with Patrol Officer Hassan Ali, is in good health and is currently in the custody of Children and Family Services. This matter remains under investigation.
On August 17, 2021 at approximately 11pm, a female reported to the Cleveland Police Second District lobby stating that her child was taken. The mother (victim) reported that she was involved in an argument with and was assaulted by a known female, Tiashia Dumas, who then drove off with her (victim’s) vehicle and her 6 week old son in the vehicle. The suspect and child are reported to be in a black 2006 Chevy Impala with a temporary tag of M38856. Further information indicates that the suspect may be intoxicated and driving around the Youngstown, Ohio area. Anyone who has information or who sees the vehicle should call 911
